Course Details
Have you ever wanted to make your own game app for your smartphone or tablet? Using Code.org’s App Lab, students can use block-based coding to create fun games to share with friends without any prior coding experience! From classic games like pong and flappy bird, student’s can master the art of app-based game development!
Level 1
Students will cover the basics of game design and mobile controls while gently introducing students to programming concepts like: variables, functions, conditionals, and objects. Students will work on mini projects that demonstrate sprites, 2D physics, and player movement which will be combined into a final Pong game.
Level 2
Dive deeper into animations and physics as students customize gravity and randomization in a Flappy Bird game. The projects created in this section increase in size and complexity.
Level 3
Students will explore more advanced concepts like lists and arrays as students work towards building a Brick Breaker game.
Level 4+
We'll work with you to identify what areas of App game development you would like to focus on and create a customized curriculum.
Your student will:
- Learn how to design sprites
- Program variables, events, and conditionals
- Design game levels
- Program using physics and gravity
